Luigi's Mansion For The Nintendo 3DS Is Out Tomorrow!

Rachel Mii | DoubleJump.comHappy Thursday!
October is starting off really well! Super Mario Party was a great game – I’m so happy Nintendo finally listened to us! Now another great game comes out tomorrow, the original Luigi’s Mansion.

Luigi’s Mansion has always been a favorite of mine. I loved the first game and the second game was great as well. I remember when Nintendo announced back in March 2018 a port of the original Luigi’s Mansion game from the Gamecube coming over to the Nintendo 3DS. I was excited, even though I remember saying to Kris, “I’ll take it but I was really hoping for Luigi’s Mansion 3.”
I’ve talked about how I played and replayed Luigi’s Mansion on the Gamecube. I’ve also talked about how my cousin got Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon on her 3DS and we were racing to beat the game while away on vacation. There’s about 10 years between us, her being younger of course. She enjoyed Dark Moon and I’ve always wanted her to play the original Luigi’s Mansion.
While our Gamecube games still work (I assume) and we could technically play on the Wii, all of our Gamecube controllers broke. It’s never been a priority either.
Now my cousin will finally be able to play the original and see what she missed out when she was younger! Of course, my other cousins used to bring their Gamecube up on vacation when the Gamecube was still hot and we used to watch them play Luigi’s Mansion out on the porch. So she knew of it even before Dark Moon came out.
Not only do I get to watch her experience how Luigi’s Mansion began, I also get to play with her in the co-op mode! I still think it’s weird that they have a full-green Luigi instead of Toad being brave enough to join him, but I’ll take what I can get.

Will you be getting Luigi’s Mansion for the 3DS? Are you as excited as I am for it tomorrow? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I had been thinking about replaying Luigi’s Mansion not too long before Nintendo announced the remake. I am still not sure whether I will get the remake or just play the Gamecube version I own. Still, I am glad the series is coming back in full force with a new installment and a remake of the original.

    1. Yeah, I’m glad Nintendo is bringing it back. I forget when Dark Moon came out, but it’s definitely been a while. I pre-ordered the remake and Amazon emailed me last night saying the estimated delivery date will be Oct 16… so I’m kind of bummed about that because I pre-ordered it so I’d get it tomorrow.

  2. I’m on the fence.
Loved Dark Moon and I’m excited for Luigi’s Mansion 3. Never played the original. Still have a Gamecube and I’ve contemplated picking up Luigi’s Mansion many times. I could stream it if I get the Gamecube version, and it would be a cool novelty to have, but the resale price on that game is a bit higher than I’d like it to be.
In a post-Switch world, I’d rather not play anything on the 3DS anymore unless I absolutely have to. Also can’t stream off a 3DS. Then again, portability is great, and it might actually be cheaper to buy the new version. If it was on the Switch, it’d be a done deal.
My analysis paralysis will probably prevent me from going either way. Will be there for Luigi’s Mansion 3 though!

    1. You bring up good points. I’m kind of surprised they’re still putting out games for the 3DS. Which is fine by me because I love that thing. If you can get the original game for the Gamecube, definitely do so. The original is great even though it’s a lot simpler than Dark Moon. I’m looking forward so much to the third one!
