Happy Thursday!
I’m sure you guys all know I can talk about Pokemon forever if I had the chance… with Detective Pikachu out, I’ve been thinking a lot about Pokemon.
Pokemon Channel was released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2003. It’s been a long time.
It was one of those games where you couldn’t really do too much in it. Pikachu came to your house to visit, similar to Hey You, Pikachu!, and would hang out with you in your bedroom. When I say hang out, I mean watch TV.
I remember playing this game a lot because I loved the Shop ‘N’ Squirt channel, which was a shopping network hosted by Squirtle. You could buy stuff to decorate your bedroom and you could also purchase bus tickets to travel to different locations. Though I don’t remember doing much of that.
There was a news channel, an art channel, an exercise channel, and many more. My personal favorite was Quiz Wobbuffet which was an interactive Pokemon trivia game.
Each channel was interactive and I remember lying on the floor doing the workouts alongside Pikachu and Smoochum, who hosted the channel. I was an odd kid. I thought I was actually being healthy and exercising… but, hey it got me off the couch.
This is definitely a game I hold close to my heart even though you could argue of whether it was a “good” game or not. Now that I’m thinking about it, I think I want to try playing it again. I’m sure that’d be interesting.
