Most days I feel like a spring chicken, but the other day I looked up a couple of games and realized just how old I really am. It got me thinking and I decided to look up games that turn a decade this year. Here’s a list of 10 games turning 10 in 2026, plus a few honorable mentions. Let’s feel old together, shall we?

Games I Played

The Witness

The Witness is a puzzle game developed and published by Thekla. It was originally released in January 2016 for PC and Playstation 4, later releasing on the XBox One in September 2016. I played it on the XBox One, though I didn’t get very far in it. I enjoyed the game, I’m just really bad at puzzles.

Stardew Valley

This iconic title, Stardew Valley, developed and published by ConcernedApe, released in February 2026 for PC. It was later added to consoles, such as the Playstation 4 and XBox One, in December 2016. It wouldn’t get its shot on the Nintendo Switch until a few years later. Even then, I didn’t start playing Stardew Valley until maybe 2022? It took me a while to hop on this train and I never want to get off.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, developed and published by Nintendo, originally released on the Nintendo GameCube in November 2006. Ten years later, in 2016, they released an HD version for the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Wii U consoles in March 2016. Kris and I played it when it originally released, then again when the HD version came out. Now that it’s been another ten years, maybe we’ll get a Nintendo Switch 2 port? Regardless, it might be time for us to give it another playthrough.

Pokémon Go

Ah, the closest we ever got to world peace. Remember the summer of 2016 where everyone wandered the streets with their eyes glued to their phones searching for invisible fictional creatures? What a time to be alive. Pokémon Go is a mobile game developed and published by Niantic, though as of 2025 Scopley is the developer and publisher. I didn’t play this for very long since there weren’t too many Pokémon to find in my area, though I still know plenty of people who continue to play. Maybe if I downloaded it again I’d have more luck? It was fun for me while it lasted, though.

Death Road to Canada

Death Road to Canada is a roguelike adventure developed by Rocketcat Games and Madgarden, and published by Rocketcat Games. This title was fun to play solo or with friends, fighting zombies, and trying to survive long enough to cross the border to Canada… Apparently zombies don’t spawn in Canada. This game originally released in 2016 but didn’t come to consoles until two years later, and we’ve played it on multiple platforms because it’s that much fun.

Overcooked

You thought Mario Party tested your friendships? Well, allow me to toss Overcooked into the ring. This is a cooking simulation game, but it’s also a great party title with friends. Overcooked was developed by Ghost Town Games and published by Team17, with a Playstation 4, XBox One, and Windows release in 2016. It came onto the Nintendo Switch in 2017, and Kris and I played this game into the ground. We completed it together, played through it with our cousins, and two separate groups of friends.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice was a lovely addition to the visual novel detective/lawyer series. Developed and published by Capcom, Spirit of Justice released onto the Nintendo 3DS in September 2016. Kris and I huddled together on the couch, towering over the tiny screen, and solved murders together. I don’t think I’ve played this title since its release, but now it’s on the Nintendo Switch, so I think I’m due for another playthrough.

Paper Mario: Color Splash

I love the Paper Mario games. Paper Mario 64 was a delight, Paper Mario and The Thousand-Year Door was good, and then… the series took a dip. Color Splash, developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo, released on the Nintendo Wii U in October 2016. The previous game in the series was Sticker Star for the Nintendo 3DS and it was terrible. And yet, Color Splash looked decent. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, but I got the game for Christmas that year and completed it in January 2017. It was a good game, not great like the original, but solid nonetheless. If I can get my Wii U working again, I’d definitely give this title another playthrough.

Mario Party: Star Rush

For a while, the Mario Party games weren’t doing too hot. Star Rush didn’t really help with that. It was way better than Top 100, but it wasn’t all that great. I enjoyed my time with it, but that time was short. Developed by NDcube and published by Nintendo, Mario Party: Star Rush released in November 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS as its own Mario Party title for the handheld console, though it’s not considered part of the main Mario Party series. I don’t think too many people remember Star Rush. I know I forgot about it until I saw that it’s ten-years-old this year.

Pokémon Sun & Moon

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are main title games for the series, set in a brand new region with lots of new Pokémon to learn about. Except it’s not brand new anymore. It’s ten-years-old and is the seventh generation of Pokémon out of (currently) nine generations. Developed by Game Freak and published by The Pokémon Company (Japan) and Nintendo (Worldwide), this title was released in November 2016 on the Nintendo 3DS. Is it the greatest Pokémon title? In my opinion, no, but it was still plenty enjoyable and I can’t believe Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio are ten-years-old.

Games I Missed

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

I missed out on the Mario & Luigi games. For some reason, these titles were always on my list but never a priority for me to buy. There was always something else new and shiny for me to get. I especially wanted Paper Jam because it crosses over with my absolutely favorite Mario series: Paper Mario. However, I wanted to play the other Mario & Luigi’s games first and I didn’t have those. Before I knew it, Paper Jam was completely forgotten about.

Firewatch

I heard of Firewatch years after its release. At the time, I wasn’t playing too many indie games because I didn’t have a good gaming PC and not that many were on home consoles. I was recently reminded this game exists once it was recommended to play from one of my video game writing courses. Supposedly Firewatch has an excellent narrative. It’s sat on my backlog list for a while now, only for me to be reminded of its existence yet again since it’s turning ten-years-old. Maybe 2026 is the year I’ll finally play this title.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

I have never played an Uncharted game. It’s not a typical genre I’d get into, but I recognize how amazing the game is to its fanbase. I remember when this game came out because the eldest brother of the kids I used to babysit for at the time, played the Uncharted series. I used to watch him play through the games while his siblings worked on homework or did their own thing at times. I enjoyed the games from what I saw, but I didn’t have any Playstation consoles of my own at the time. Now I have a Playstation 5, so maybe I can give them a go if the series is available on there.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan

I was excited for this title. It had been a while since a Ninja Turtles game was released. It only came out on Playstation and XBox and, while I had an XBox One, I wasn’t playing too many games on there at the time. Soon enough, I ended up forgetting about the game until this very moment when I saw it’s turning ten in 2026. Mutants in Manhattan released in May 2016 and, less than a year later, the Nintendo Switch released. Once I got my hands on a Switch, I rarely turned my other consoles on.

Each year gets better than the last when it comes to gaming. I believe 2026 will be packed with excellent games on consoles, PC, indie or AAA, doesn’t matter. I’m looking forward to seeing what 2026 brings and I’m also looking forward to going back to some of these older games to either revisit them, or finally give them a try.
