Super Smash Brothers Tournament

Rachel Mii Double JumpHappy Thursday!

I’ll be completely honest, I had no idea what to write about for today.

But I’ve been doing something lately that I tend to do a lot and wondered if I’m the only one who does it…

Show of hands: Who goes on Super Smash Brothers Wii U and pins eight level-9 computer characters against each other for a certain amount of time to see who comes out on top?

I do.

Whenever I’m cleaning the room or writing or blogging, I like to have some background noise on. Normally I listen to instrumental music or video game soundtracks, but sometimes I end up humming along or even dancing and then I get distracted.

So, when that happens I tend to put on Super Smash Brothers Wii U. I pin the computer characters against each other, usually for about an hour, and see how much I can get done by the time the match is over.

Sometimes I do eight level-9 random characters. Sometimes I pick characters based on their respected game and sometimes I do four versus four and see which team wins.

Lately, I’ve been having Kris pick four characters and I pick four. Then they battle and we see which team wins. We did four matches the other day and my team won three of the four matches. Needless to say, I was very happy with that even though I didn’t even do anything.

Aside from playing the actual game, that’s how I “play” Super Smash Brothers.

Am I the only one who does this?

  1. I’m the same way. I like having background stuff, and it’s entertaining to actually have a game going on. Although I haven’t used Super Smash Bros., I sometimes watch Twitch Plays Pokemon, which is sort of like watching a computer play, haha. Lately, they’ve been showing matches between 2 teams of 3 Pokemon on Pokemon Battle Revolution (Wii), so it’s interesting to just have Pokemon matches play in the background. The audience can vote on what music plays during the battles too, which makes even more pleasing audio-wise.

    • I sometimes put Twitch on as well (though I have yet to figure out how to hook my iPad up to the TV). I watched bits and pieces of the Pokemon Championship, but I didn’t know Twitch played Battle Revolution. I’ll have to check that out!

      • I love this time of year, because there’s lots of gaming events going on at Twitch. I keep them on in the background while working, and it helps. I’ve been watching Summer Games Done Quick all week, which is a 1 week long 24/7 speedrunning marathon for charity. Some amazing things there and great causes. The Pokemon Championships are also excellent. There are some fighting game tournaments that are interesting too, specifically the big Smash Bros. (appropriately enough) tournaments coming this year at EVO. They’re doing Pokken Tournament this year too, so I’m looking forward to it!

      • I follow GDQ on Twitch, but haven’t watched anything from them yet. I was wondering why they were constantly streaming for the past few days. This makes sense now, lol.
I’m still pretty new to Twitch and finding out about all these events are overwhelming because I want to watch them all!
