A new year means new beginnings.
Here are some of my goals for 2017.
I can’t believe 2017 is just a couple days away. I make resolutions every year, sometimes I stick to them and sometimes… You know.
Kris and I started Double Jump back in February and it’s weird that it’s been almost a full year of running this blog. A lot has happened since then, we’ve made a lot of cool gaming friends through WordPress, and we have new aspirations for ourselves.
We sat down together and discussed the future of this blog and what we hope to accomplish with it in 2017. Some ideas we’ll reveal, other ideas we’ll keep to ourselves and just work on them in our own time.
I’m pretty excited, to say the least.
I do have some of my own gaming goals, though. When you work full time with two part-time jobs on the side, plus run two blogs, and are trying to jump-start your writing career, time finds a way of getting from you. Time spent playing video games.
One of the reasons Kris and I started this blog was because we wanted to share our love of games and we wanted to branch out more, gaming-wise. We wanted to play more video games and try new games that we wouldn’t typically play.
Between the two of us, we’ve reviewed 18 games in 11 months. That’s almost two games per month. That’s a good amount and seems like a lot.
Yet, we skipped a lot of “new release” games, mostly because we ran out of time or we lacked the money to buy the new games. That’s one of the downsides of this… video games are expensive.
Now the Nintendo Switch is coming out and we still need to get another Xbox… Well, that’s a post for another time, I guess.
Anyway, one of my goals for next year is to play more video games. Seems a cliche, I know, and I don’t even have a set amount of games I want to play, either. It’s not like I want to play one game a month or two games a month, I just want to play more.
I don’t think that’s too much to ask for. We’ll see what 2017 brings!
