Wii U Haul

Remember our New Discoveries post? Where we talked about realizing that we didn’t have as many Wii U games as we thought, and then listed a few new games that we would like to get and play? Well… Our wallets are lighter.

We decided to splurge a little and treat ourselves. We got four games (one came with an Amiibo) for about $100. And we don’t need to tell you that that’s a steal. Nintendo games are in the $40-$60 range. So, four games and an Amiibo for $100? Yes, please.

I believe we had gotten ones that we had mentioned on our New Discoveries post. One of the games I had chosen was Rodea the Sky Soldier…. mostly because it had a pretty cover. It seems to be set in cities and islands in the sky, and it boasts aerial combat, so it seems like we’ll be fighting in gorgeous locations while flying. I was sold.

Plus, it’s something different that we wouldn’t normally play. I’m excited to try it out. One game I picked out was Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. We have Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii, but never got its sequel. I loved the classic Donkey Kong Country games that I was excited when they brought the games back in a new light. We haven’t beaten the first one, but I’m excited to try the next one.

The Donkey Kong Country games starred in some of my earliest video game memories. We’ve heard good things about the newer games, as well. The second game I had picked out with Minecraft Storymode: The Complete Adventure. Rachel and I have recently started playing Minecraft ourselves on our computers, and this particular Wii U game was created with Telltale Series, the same folks who did Batman: The Telltale Series. I mainly got it out of curiosity with its familiar setting and game locations. It should be interesting.

I think we’ll have a lot of fun with the Minecraft game. It’s new and fresh for us. My other pick was Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. This was a game I wanted when it first came out and just never got around to getting. It came with a Toad Amiibo, which was cool. In fact, I already beat the main story mode. It was short and sweet, but there are two other stories that I have yet to play through, so there’s more to the game than meets the eye.

As cute as that game is, I think I would be a little miffed if the entirety of the game only took you about two hours to play, haha! We’ll be a bit busy with these new games for a while, not to mention our new Steam purchases…

I was, that’s why I was glad it came with an Amiibo as well for the price. But I think the other parts of the game will keep me busy for a bit. Oh, yes. Then we splurged on Steam… Too bad we can’t just play games all day, huh?
