Friday Favorites: BotW Weapons

Double Jump Kris MiiHopefully you’re not sick of Breath of the Wild posts, because here’s another one!

One of the aspects I love about the game is the variety of weapons. I have yet to find the Master Sword, but until then, I’m doing well with some of my favorite weapons that I find in the game!

Guardian Sword

I was entranced with how much this sword glowed when I first collected it! The swords are definitely my preferred weapon of choice — besides the bows — so far in this game, and the Guardian Sword seems to be a decently balanced blade for combat. Not too heavy but still deals a nice amount of damage.

Sledgehammer

Generally I’m not one for the heavier weapons, the ones that take a few precious seconds to swing around before colliding with an enemy. However, the hammer definitely was fun, even just for smashing items along with the toes of the bigger enemies!

Shock Arrow

I love bows. In Legend of Zelda games, Fire Emblem games, Minecraft… Bow and arrows were always fun for me, for sniping enemies and triggering traps from afar. Breath of the Wild has a variety of arrows to choose from as well, and I particularly enjoyed using the shock arrows on enemies. It was difficult not to appreciate them, especially after dying a few times to that Lynel enemy using them near Zoras Domain!

Lightscale Trident

Spears and lances, like the heavier weapons in games, never were really one of my favorites, but there’s just something so satisfying with stabbing your enemies with a trident. I never thought I would have that much fun with a trident!

What’s your favorite weapon in Breath of the Wild? Do you have a preferred fighting strategy?

  1. I find it really satisfying using tridents when powered up – if you hold attack and let it charge fully, you unleash this wicked wave of attacks, like 20 in a row! It’s awesome 🙂
