Top Tuesday: Favorite 1-2 Switch Games

Rachel Mii Double JumpHappy Tuesday!

I’ve been playing a lot of the Nintendo Switch lately. One .game that I find bizarre, but surprisingly have a good time playing, is 1-2 Switch.

I’ve only played the game with my sister and my cousin, but there have been a few games we’ve played over and over again.

Favorite 1-2 Switch Games

5. Soda Shake

Using only one Joy-Con, there’s not much to this game. You shake the Joy-Con and pass it along to the next player. This proceeds until one of you “pops” the champagne. Whoever is stuck holding it when it pops loses. This game is fun mainly due to the anticipation. The technology in the Joy-Cons is great because you can actually feel the bubbles fizzing the more you shake it. I’ve only ever won this game once, but I still have a lot of fun with it.

4. Safe Crack

When I was little, I wanted to be a spy or secret agent or the like. I’m not really sure why, but I was just into that spy stuff. Now that I’m older, I’ve realized I don’t have the stomach to deal with that stuff and I think I’m too small standing at 4-feet-10-inches, but I guess that’s why I write mystery novels. Anyway, Safe Crack is a simple, yet fun game. You turn the Joy-Con in your hand until you feel a slight tick of a vibration. When you feel that, you stop, and one of the three locks on the safe clicks open. Do this three times before your opponent and you’ve won by cracking your safe first. So far, I’ve never lost at this game and that makes me feel pretty cool.

3. Signal Flags

This game is just hilarious. Your Joy-Con is a “flag” and you need to raise it up, down, left, or right. When the woman directs you where to hold it, you listen to her. When the man directs you, you have to hold it in the opposite direction he says. It’s pretty fast-paced and you can easily get confused, especially when you’re staring at your opponent because their left is your right. My cousin kept royally messing this one up, which kept messing me up. We laughed hysterically the entire time.

2. Joy-Con Rotation

Gently pick up your Joy-Con and rotate it without tilting it and then gently put it back down. Whoever does the biggest rotation, out of three tries, wins. It sounds dumb, but it’s actually a lot of fun. This is another game I win at a lot (which could be why I love it so much, I’ll admit that). I played with my cousin and she just couldn’t do it. At all. It was hilarious and, if you haven’t noticed, most of my favorite games are the type that keeping laughing throughout.

1. Beach Flag

Holding the Joy-Con in one hand, you run in place really, really fast and when the Joy-Con vibrates, you hold it up in the air. I love the motion control games that require you to move. I find them to be a lot of fun. Plus, the replay of your character running to grab the flag is funny as well.

  1. it’s a shame this didn’t come bundled with the Switch. I don’t see why not, given that the original Wii came with Wii Sports. Either way I’d love to play this but the price tag doesn’t seem justified.

    • Exactly. I don’t know why they decided not to bundle anything together. They wouldn’t be losing money over it.
I understand why the price is so high because of what the Joy-Cons can do, but that shouldn’t effect the game price, I wouldn’t think.

    • The dance games were fun, until the results came in… For example, the dance-off game I danced and Kris just kind of shook the controller and she won. I have to say I was quite disappointed, lol.
The rumble games are a lot of fun! Ball count is good, but it’s really hard. I can’t seem to wrap my head around that one.
