151: My Favorite Number

Happy Thursday!

It’s day three of Pokemon Month and I thought I’d talk about something that crosses my mind each and every day.

I don’t know about you guys, but there’s always been a certain number that tends to catch my attention.

151

It’s the number of Pokemon there were in the beginning when the Kanto region was the only region. It was the number of Pokemon that were discovered long before the other 651 Pokemon were discovered. And I’m sure there’s more on the way.

There’s a total of 802 Pokemon at the moment, but 151 gets me every time.

You know when you see a “Punch Buggy” car and you get the urge to punch the person next to you? It’s a game that everyone knows about, everyone plays.

Every time I see the number 151 I have to shout: “Pokemon!” or, “Gotta catch ’em all!”

I’m the only one who plays it and most people either look at me funny or they just ignore me. I get nothing out of it, yet I still can’t help myself.

When the clock shows 1:51, I think of Pokemon. When my cousin had 151-dollars left in Monopoly, I thought of Pokemon. When my dad got a scratch ticket and the number was 0151, I thought of Pokemon.

It’s like when a certain smell or sound reminds you of a memory or a person or place. Whenever I see or hear the number 151, it brings me right back to my childhood. Back to Pokemon. Back to the games and the music.

It’s become a favorite number of mine because it pops up so much. Whenever I have to pick a number for something, I often try for 151.

That, and the number 3, which is my other favorite number. But that’s because of something totally unrelated.

Am I the only one who does this? Let me know in the comments below!
