Did you know that the Nintendo Switch has been out for six months now? Despite knowing that, I feel like I’ve had the Switch for a lot longer.
In its sudden old age, they may be adding a cool update.
This may be old news, but I just found out about it yesterday.
Apparently, there was a leak on a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread by an indie developer who is putting their game, Lichtspeer, onto the Nintendo Switch.
They said, and I quote:
“Nintendo doesn’t have an official support for Achievements and Leaderboards, like Sony or Microsoft but we know that they’re working on it.”
I always loved the achievements on consoles. It was one of my favorite things about the XBox. There’s just something about it that makes you feel so accomplished.
Every time you get a notification that you earned something in the game or you did something so many times, it warms my heart. I feel good, feel accomplished, and feel as though I’m making progress in the game.
This is why I love it when games tell you the percentage you’re on in the game at the title screen. I like to see if I’m 57% through the game. Halfway, that’s amazing! Or, if I’m 33% through a game I really enjoy, I’m happy that I still have a while left to go.
I also love to see how many hours I’ve logged into a game. I don’t know why, but the more hours I put into a game, the more accomplished I feel. No, I don’t feel like I’m “wasting my time,” I feel like I’m putting a lot of hard work and effort into a game I really enjoy.
I don’t know if this is considered a “leak” or a “rumor.” I don’t even know if this is old news or new news. Still, it excites me.
I would love for Nintendo to add such a feature. It would make gaming a whole lot more competitive (for me) and would be so much fun, not to mention satisfying to keep up with.
Do you think Nintendo will add this feature? Do you want it to happen? Let us know in the comments below and we’ll chat!
