Sports games aren’t necessarily something I’m into. Though with some hype (and not so much hype) of Mario Tennis Aces, I thought I’d talk about some of the Mario sports games I have played.
I’ll be honest, I had to look up a list of Mario sports games. As it turns out, I’ve only played about 3 of them. So, there you go… not that into sports games even though they are pretty fun when I play them.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
I like Mario and I like Sonic. I remember when this game out for the Nintendo Wii in 2007, I was excited to give it a try. I thought it was an interesting take on a sports game and crossing over Mario and Sonic was cool as well. Though, they probably should have stuck to crossing them over in a platformer rather than making them ice skate and sprint.
I don’t remember too much of this game other than I wasn’t that impressed with it. Maybe I’ll give it another try someday just to see.
Mario Super Sluggers
This is a baseball game that came out on the Nintendo Wii in 2008. I remember getting it because I enjoyed the Wii Sports game so much. So mixing that similar game with the Mario characters excited me.
I’ll be honest, I don’t remember too much of it. I don’t think I played it that often. It wasn’t as fun by yourself and Kris wasn’t into the game so no one would play with it. Like the other game, I might play it again soon to revisit it.
Mario Hoops 3 on 3
This basketball game came out for the Nintendo DS way back in 2006. I’ve played this one the most and, if I remember correctly, I was pretty good at it. I don’t remember there being too much to the game but I did play a good amount of it. I remember bringing it to babysitting with me one time when I had a late night ahead of me.
When Nintendo announced Mario Tennis Aces, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get the game or not. It looked interesting to me and I definitely wouldn’t mind giving it a try. I haven’t gotten the game and I’m not sure if I will anytime soon. In the meantime, if I want to play tennis, I’ll probably turn on Wii Sports again.
