This month on Monday through Friday, we started doing a new hashtag called #GamingTogether on Twitter. Each day poses a new question to start up some more fun conversations about video games with fellow like-minded people and friends. We’re about halfway through the month and decided it was time to share our own answers for the questions.
#GamingTogether is meant to bring out a fun community for gamers to get to know one and another and connect. It can be found on our Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr. Today, we’ll answer questions from the first two weeks!
Day 1: Do you have a gaming buddy or someone special to play games with?
Kris: I feel as if the answer to this question is obvious to those who know us, haha! Rachel is my closest gaming buddy, and I’m lucky she started playing video games with me all those years ago.
Rachel: I feel obligated to say Kris. But no, really, Kris is my gaming buddy. Always has been, always will be.
Day 2: What’s your favorite home console?
Kris: At the moment, probably the Nintendo Switch, but I do have a lot of fond memories of the Nintendo 64.
Rachel: Echoing Kris, my favorite right now is the Nintendo Switch. But before that it was the Nintendo Gamecube. Though it’s hard to choose between that and the Nintendo 64.
Day 3: What’s your all-time favorite game?
Kris: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for the SNES.
Rachel: Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64.
Day 4: If you could live in any video game world, which would it be and why?
Kris: I’m torn between Pokemon and Hyrule from the Legend of Zelda series. Each would be an awesome adventure, with Pokemon definitely focused more on exploring and growing while Hyrule would be beautiful. For Hyrule, it would also depend on the timeline, I’m sure!
Rachel: I actually wrote a blog post about this more in depth. My short answer though would be Pokemon.
Day 5: In Pokemon, if Grass, Fire, and Water were not an option, what type would you like your starter to be?
Kris: I’d choose Flying or Ground as my starting type. Both have an abundance of weaknesses, yes, but they have some of my favorite moves and I enjoy the strategies I can come up with for them.
Rachel: I would choose to have a Ghost-type Pokemon. They’re my favorite type aside from Fire.
Day 6: Which piece of The Legend of Zelda’s Triforce would you wield — Power, Courage, or Wisdom?
Kris: Honestly… I like Power. Unlike Ganondorf, I’d use my Power for good to help the world. Courage would probably be second.
Rachel: I think Wisdom would be my best bet. I’m kind of a coward and I don’t think I’d handle the courage badge so well. Power? I just can’t see myself wielding that either.
Day 7: What class in Fire Emblem would you be?
Kris: My favorite classes are the rogue and sniper classes, but I totally wouldn’t mind being a wyvern rider. Having a giant dragon-like flying mount would be amazing!
Rachel: Being a wyvern rider would be awesome, but my go-to would be a Mage. I like magic and fire!
Day 8: What is your favorite piece of gaming merch that you own?
Kris: There’s so many to choose from… I have a little Jolteon plush, a Koopa Troopa plush from Rachel, and a perler bead Geno that I bought from a talented artist back in March at Canada’s EGLX that are all at the top of my list.
Rachel: My Pokemon card collection. Hands down. I love all my figurines, art, plushies, etc., but my Pokemon card collection just keeps growing and growing.
Day 9: Who is your preferred Mario brother — Mario or Luigi?
Kris: I’m probably leaning more towards Luigi as the underdog, but I don’t mind Mario.
Rachel: Luigi! I don’t even really have much of a reason why… I’ve just always gravitated towards him. Maybe it’s because I’m always second player too.
Day 10: Who is your favorite character on the Super Smash Bros Ultimate roster (so far)?
Kris: Sheik is my absolute favorite, but I’m excited to see Chrom there as well! Robin is also one of my favorite fighters.
Rachel: Zelda, of course. She’s always been a go-to. But I’m super excited to get the chance to play as Young Link and Roy again. They were always my favorites back in the day. And while I’ve never been a huge fan of Villager, I’m interested to see what Isabelle can do.
