Our Favorite Gaming Halloween Costumes

Who is dressing up for Halloween? We aren’t, but dressing up as our favorite characters from video games, comic books, or other “geeky” origins was always fun as we were growing up. One of my favorite Halloweens was when I was Batman and Rachel was Robin. I can’t remember how far back that was, probably when we were in high school, I believe.

Couples will dress up together and match. Kris and I tend to do the same thing. We plan sibling costumes with each other. We haven’t done it in a few years, but it’s still fun to think about. We’ve always brainstormed ideas but haven’t followed through with them. There was one year I dressed up as a Ninja Turtle… Kris, what were you? I can’t remember. I don’t think we actually matched that year.

No, I don’t think so. I think we were “older” at that point. Pretty sure I had just a few witch accessories, like the hat, that year. We always semi-joked about being Mario and Luigi, but those costumes tended to be for the male population and wouldn’t fit us. Well, actually, Rachel, you used to be small enough for the boys section of Halloween costumes.

That’s true. I wear kids-sized costumes. Still, the female costumes are always skimpy. If I’m going to be Luigi, I want to be Luigi. If I’m going to be Pikachu, I want to be Pikachu. I don’t want cutesy ears, tail, and a tu-tu. But, that’s opening a whole other can of worms. Some Halloween I’d love to dress up as Zelda characters. We’ve never done that before.

Ah, yes, I prefer the male costumes because they tend to cover more. Zelda characters would be awesome! I would love to have Link’s tunic or try to find a Sheikah outfit. I wouldn’t mind a more medieval costume, such as from the Fire Emblem universe, like a rogue or an archer. Imagine dressing up as characters from Octopath Traveler!

Dressing up as characters from Octopath Traveler would be cool! Of course, I’d love to try to be many different Pokemon as well. It’s always around this time of year when I wish I was serious about cosplay and knew how to sew and all that.

Cosplay is another hobby I would like to get into in between everything else we do, haha! We covered Mario and Luigi, Pokemon, Fire Emblem and Octopath characters, Legend of Zelda… Taking some inspiration from Super Smash Bros., imagine being Princess Peach and Rosalina, Villager from Animal Crossing, the Wii Fit trainer. I would absolutely love a caped outfit like Geno from Super Mario RPG! … Not that many in our neighborhood would know who Geno is, of course.

Not many people in our neighborhood would know any of them. I do, however, have a feeling we may see a lot of kids dressed in certain Fortnite costumes this year. I’m curious about that. Overall, we see a lot of similar costumes over the years. I doubt we’ll see anything much different.
