Last week, it was announced that Reggie Fils-Aime was retiring as President of Nintendo of America. He held that title for 13 out of the 15 years he’s worked for Nintendo and, in April, he will pass along that title to Doug Bowser.
As longtime Nintendo fans, Reggie’s name was always familiar to us here at Double Jump. We enjoyed seeing him announce new games and features for Nintendo consoles and the company as a whole, as well as the good-natured memes that popped up with him. His speaking manner was always calm and proud whenever he was talking about Nintendo and its accomplishments. He wasn’t just the president of a company, he was a lifelong fan who lived the dream of loving his job and sharing the sheer joy of playing games with millions of others.
So, here’s to you, Reggie. Thanks so much for sharing your love of creativity, community, and, most importantly, gaming. Best of luck with your retirement!
