I had no idea this day was coming until about two days ago. And boy, did it get me excited.
The Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney series has a special place in my heart. A random purchase turned into something so much more than that. Not only did Kris and I enjoy the games and we had so much playing together, but we got our oldest sister into the series as well even though she stopped playing video games a long time ago.
We have a lot of great memories with the original trilogy and have wished the games after that came to home consoles so we could play together on the big screen with our sister again. Kris and I don’t mind huddling over the 3DS together, despite how uncomfortable it gets, but it’s hard to do that with three people. Needless to say, our sister didn’t get a chance to finish the series. She only played the original trilogy.
While I’ve been waiting for a brand new Ace Attorney game for a long time (Duel Destinies came out in 2013!) I’m excited to see the original trilogy on the big screen again.
Kris and I got the games on the Wii Ware way back in the day (when we had a blocky TV in our bedroom with the Gamecube and Wii hooked up). We had no idea the games originally came out for the DS. We also have no idea they had an order to them – we just thought there were three games total so we ended up buying the third games, Trials and Tribulations, first and played through it. We beat it and then realized it was the third game in a trilogy.
The trilogy came out for the 3DS years later and I, of course, got it. I had an itch to play it again and while I never finished it (mostly because it was more fun with Kris but also I knew the outcomes of each case despite forgetting how to get there).
Now the trilogy is coming out yet again for the Nintendo Switch. I have it on the Wii and my 3DS… do I really need it for the Switch? Um, yes. Yes, I do.
I haven’t played the games in so long – the cases are fun and tricky, the story is amazing, and the characters are so loveable!
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy comes out on the Nintendo Switch today for $30. That’s $10 per game which is a steal. I got it and I can’t wait to start playing relive those cases again!
