Character Spotlight: Pikachu

Rachel Mii | DoubleJump.comHappy Tuesday!
It’s kind of hard to believe another month had already come and gone. A new game was recently released, a game I’ve been waiting for a long time starring a fan favorite from Pokemon.
Character Spotlight: Pikachu | Gaming | Nintendo | Pokemon | Video Games |
Pikachu is #25 in the National Pokedex. He’s a fan favorite and loved by all. I wonder if he would get all the attention he does if he wasn’t chosen to be Ash’s main Pokemon in the anime. He originated in the Kanto region, the original region that started Pokemon way back when.
Pikachu’s latest appearance is, of course, Detective Pikachu. This is a game that was announced a couple years ago and I’ve been waiting ever so patiently for it ever since. Pikachu loves the spotlight and now he’s fighting crime.
He’s the type of character that, I’ll admit, I thought I would get sick of. If only because there’s a lot of hype about him and he gets a lot of attention by being Ash’s sidekick. He’s just so cute and loveable though. Not just in Pokemon either. He’s great in Super Smash Bros. and Pokken Tournament.
Pikachu is an iconic character not just in Pokemon but also for Nintendo and gaming itself.

Do you love Pikachu? Who’s your favorite Pokemon? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. I tend to find Pikachu overrated but I will say that Detective Pikachu looks hilarious! I just purchased another game so I won’t pick it up right away but it is on my radar for the future.

    • I agree with you on that. Pikachu has gotten the spotlight quite a bit. I just started playing Detective Pikachu yesterday and I think it’s great! I just hope it gets harder, lol.

  2. Pikachu has been a favourite of mine since the beginning. I used to alternate between him and Link in Super Smash Bros and he was my go to Pokken Tournament. He is not however my most favourite Pokémon. That honour is reserved for Blastoise. I don’t have a 3DS but if Detective Pikachu were to come to Switch, I would pick it up in a heartbeat.

    • Maybe it’ll come to the Switch someday? It uses the touchscreen a lot, but then again they put Ace Attorney on the Wii. It’s actually a pretty good game so I hope you get the chance to play it sometime.
