At this time, many Stardew Valley PC players are enjoying the 1.6 version of the game. Considering we mainly play on consoles, we’ve been dissecting the patch notes for this new version and are looking forward to many of the updates and improvements that ConcernedApe is bringing to the game!

As a late bloomer to the game, I’m still trying to play through my original farm, unlocking all its secrets. I haven’t “completed” the game by any means, but it looks like I’ll be ditching that farm and heading to a newer Stardew Valley whenever the update arrives on the Nintendo Switch. I’m actually looking forward to that because I’ll get to carry so much knowledge over to the new version and (hopefully) complete certain quests sooner to make room (and time) for the newer quests.

I actually have mixed feelings on that. I have no problem starting new farms as I do find creating new goals enjoyable, but I do have a strong attachment to my main farm, haha! Either way, I’m very much looking forward to enjoying the updates. Looking at the patch notes, one of the major updates that I have wanted in the game for a long time is the fact that there will be a separate tab that shows all of your animals’ information. I can’t tell you how often I forget what I’ve named my chickens and cows!

That’s totally fair. I’m sure I’ll visit my original farm from time to time, too. I have nearly 200 hours into it! But yes, I absolutely agree the animals tab will be so useful. I have a list on the Notes app on my phone to keep track of all my animals’ names. Stardew Valley is, more or less, an animal keeper simulation game. I have countless animals on my farm and spend the majority of my in-game days making sure they’re happy and healthy. So, I’m also super excited that new dog and cat breeds were added and that we can have more than one pet! Not to mention, turtles can be pets!

I saw the part about pet turtles and immediately thought of you! I also got wicked excited about the note that we can put hats on dogs and cats now, haha! When I first started playing Stardew Valley, I never thought I would be as into the clothes as I am now. I enjoy using the sewing machine to discover new clothes, so I like that there will be more clothing and hat options in the update.

I didn’t get into the clothing, decorations, and furniture. I thought I would be since I’m obsessed with that in Animal Crossing. But, the days are too short in Stardew Valley that I have too much work to do to care for my animals and farm as a whole. I know there will be much more furniture and the like, so maybe I will be more interested in it with the update. But honestly, aside from the pets, do you know what I’m super excited about? The map changes! Not only will we get to see our exact location on the map from now on, but we’ll have the exact location of our co-op players. Also, we’re finally getting a map for Ginger Island. That’s going to be a life saver for me.

That’s fair. I’ve been starting to get more into decorating my farmhouses too, so more furniture – including more themed sets – is awesome! I absolutely agree that the map updates will be fantastic, especially when we play with our cousins. Instead of us asking where the heck everyone is, we can just take a quick look. There was also a note about positional audio, so that may be fun, too. I will admit, I never realized we did not have a map for Ginger Island – oops. I think I was always in a rush whenever working on Ginger Island, I never thought to look! On a similar note, there’s going to be the ability to craft tents to, presumably, camp out places so the risk of passing out and losing items is minimal. Imagine camping out in the mines while trying to reach the bottom!

Yes, absolutely! The tents are going to be so useful, especially for the Skull Cavern. I also thought of how useful the map and the tents will be for when we play with our cousins. One of them in particular is often passing out because she spends too much time playing the arcade game at the tavern. We’re going to need all the help we can get when the four of us play together. I also noticed the festivals will slightly change depending on the number of players. I believe it’s 5+ players, which won’t affect us much.

Oh, yes, I believe that was for the Egg Festival where we probably need a certain amount of eggs to win against the NPCs and each other. I’m excited for those quality of life improvements, especially with our multiplayer games. Dialogue changes, being able to use chairs at festivals, more cosmetic changes happening depending on the timing of the year… I’m looking forward to seeing all of that!

I’m looking forward to all of that, too. We’re getting new festivals like the Trout Derby. Anything that has to do with fish, sign me up! We’re getting new types of fishies, too! Overall, I’m shocked how many changes are within this update. I genuinely wasn’t expecting such a long laundry list of updates. I’m super impressed and thankful to ConcernedApe.

New festivals, a new farm, new achievements and rewards… The man is amazing with everything he’s done for this! And I heard he already put out a patch to iron out any bugs that went into the update. I’m thankful he cares so much about the community and fans of his game to continue working so hard for us!

Yes, exactly! He’s absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to see what Stardew Valley now has to offer when we finally get a chance to play it. In the meantime, I shall enjoy this game to the max while still eagerly awaiting Haunted Chocolatier!
