Goodbye, 2018!

Goodbye 2018 | New Year | 2019 | Gaming | Video Games | Blogging | DoublexJump.com

I feel like 2018 was both really long and really short. There’s been a few changes and shiny new features that we’ve done this year for the blog. One of the most exciting developments for Double Jump is that we’ve started streaming on Twitch! It’s been fantastic connecting with others, both from the blog and from the streaming community, just chatting about video games and life while we attempt to be good at games.

2018 was weird for sure. It definitely felt long and short at the same time. I can’t believe we’re already prepping for 2019 though. But yeah, we started streaming on Twitch in August and it’s been a fun couple of months playing new and old games and connecting with friends through there. We’ve done a lot this year and we played through a lot of games, especially on the Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch has definitely become one of my favorite consoles, both with its hardware and its games. While its online mode is a bit… lacking, we’ve used Discord to make up for Nintendo’s Online chat, connecting with even more people this year such as Justin at TWOTALL4UFOOL and Jett at InThirdPerson.

2018 was filled with collabs with others between blogging and streaming. Jett hosted a 24-hour live stream for charity which we were apart of. That was definitely a fun and great experience. We hope to be able to do that again in 2019! We’ve also contributed quite a bit to Miketendo64 and Pure Nintendo with game reviews.

Our reviews also branched out a bit with adding some card and board game reviews to go along with video games and movies. After all, we created this blog in order to connect with others with our love of games and, while our main focus is video games, why not go a little further and find other types of games to enjoy?

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Yeah, I’ve enjoyed reviewing board and card games, both old and new. I want to expand our board games collection. We have a lot more planned for 2019 and we’re excited to share our ideas! We’ll updating some old stuff and adding some new stuff.

krismii
We believe we beat our score of game reviews from last year, too! Last year we did a little over 50 game reviews, whereas this year we’ve done about 50 on our blog, not to mention several others on Miketendo and, in Rachel’s case, Pure Nintendo. Here’s hoping 2019 is a great year for games!

One thing we need to do is get into a better routine when it comes to playing! I want to allow myself more time to sit back and play the games. But I’m hoping to review even more games in the next year. I think 2019 is going to be great!

Goodbye, 2017!

krismii
It’s difficult to believe that another year has come and gone, isn’t it? So much happened this past year in the world of gaming and blogging for us. One of the biggest events was probably us hunting around until we found a Nintendo Switch of our own. The success of Nintendo’s latest console has been phenomenal, and we’re lucky to be part of it!

rachmii
Thanks to the Switch, we’ve played a lot of great games and have discovered a lot we wouldn’t have normally played before. I feel like I’ve played through a lot of indie games more than games by big developers. Part of that is thanks to Mike and Jack over at Miketendo64. A big highlight for us this year was that we started doing occasional reviews for them on their blog. It’s been great and we’ve connected with a lot of people.

Connecting and playing with other people was the main selling point of the Switch. While we weren’t the types to take our Switch outside and find others at parks to play with, the Switch did its job when it came to connecting us with the rest of the Miketendo64 team, as well as others like Mr. Panda. It was so simple to have a Mario Kart session with him thanks to the Switch’s simple online capabilities!

We’ve done a lot of planning and thinking for Double Jump as a whole this year. We’ve explored a lot in 2017 in gaming and blogging and it has allowed us to start thinking ahead into the new year with new and exciting features.

krismii
We want to connect even more with followers and fellow gamers alike come 2018 amid day jobs and social obligations. Of course, we’re also looking forward to playing plenty of games come the new year! With a new Xbox One and Steam accounts, we have a wider variety of games that we’re eager to share and talk about with everyone!

Of course, we won’t be leaving Nintendo in the dust. Our gaming wishlist is long and stretches on for miles. We’ve reviewed over 50 games this year and, I don’t know about you Kris, but I’m hoping to beat that number in 2018. Sure, I want to take our time and enjoy the games we play, but I want to explore them all.

Nintendo will always be near and dear to us and, with the plethora of indie and third-party games that are coming on the Switch, the console will definitely get a workout. And if the rumors of a Virtual Console are true, then who knows how many games we’ll put on it? Here’s to a wonderful 2018, filled with awesome games and fantastic people!

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Now that our four cousins got a Switch for Christmas, I’m sure we’ll be playing a lot of Mario Kart and the like. 2018 will be a great year for gaming and for Double Jump. Happy New Year!
