Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone! Here’s hoping everyone had a wonderful holiday filled with good times, good family and friends, and presents. This was a pretty low-key Christmas for us, our immediate family opting to just exchange a few gifts together.

We always look forward to Christmas, but we all know the best day of the year is December 26th. It’s great to see everyone, but it’s nice to have that calm when it’s all said and done. Plus, we can play with our new toys. My mom loved how I’m 25-years-old and she was still wrapping up “toys” for me from “Santa.”

The main video game I had received was the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy for the Xbox One. The Spyro trilogy was one of the few games I had for our old original Playstation years ago, so it’ll be fun to go back to that world and see how well it’s been remastered. I haven’t heard anything bad yet about the new game. I was also surprised with the complete soundtrack of Octopath Traveler, imported from Japan. Thankfully the little booklet inside the cover has the English names of the songs, as they’re all listed in Japanese on the back cover!

I’m excited to get back to Spyro as well. Plus, listening to the soundtrack, there are four CDs to it! The main video game I got was the Lego Harry Potter Collection for the Nintendo Switch. This game came out in October and I’ve never played any of the Lego Harry Potter games before. Having all seven in one game will be a treat and I can’t wait to finally go to Hogwarts. I also got two packs of Pokemon cards – one had a jumbo Tsareena card, which I was excited about. Tsareena was on my main team in Pokemon Sun & Moon. The other pack had a Pokeball card holder to go along with Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee. I also got the game guide to those games as well.

I also got Rachel a Mimikyu doll that the dog thought belongs to her, haha! Aside from those games, we’ve also each gotten an eShop gift card which I’m planning on using to download Gris on the Nintendo Switch. I’ve had my eye on the game for a while, so it seems like the perfect game for the end of the year. Our grandparents gave us some cash, and I already spent mine on the new expansion pack — Get Famous — and a couple of stuff packs for the Sims 4. We have plenty of games to keep us occupied for a little while… At least until the new year!

I also got a new Monopoly game, the Cheater’s Edition. The point is to cheat and not get caught… but I kind of do that in regular Monopoly anyway. So I’m hoping the game will be a blast. However, I know people are expecting me to cheat, so it’ll be more of a challenge. We do have plenty of games to keep us busy for the new year and I know so many new games are going to come out in 2019. I can’t wait to dive into our new games!

Holiday Haul

Rachel Mii Double JumpHappy first Tuesday of 2017! I can’t believe another year has come and gone.

Last year, Kris and talked about what we hoped to get for Christmas and Santa did not disappoint.

holiday-haul

All of the gifts I received were either book/writing related, video game related, or Harry Potter related. Is it safe to say that my friends and family know me a little too well?

pikachu-socksRemember I was excited to get Charmander socks from that video game raffle basket? Well, I got more socks! I don’t think I’ve ever had so many socks in my life.

I now have nifty ankle socks of Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, and Psyduck. They’re actually pretty comfortable!

I also got a book called Guy in Real Life by Steve Brezenoff which is based on a guy and girl and an MMORPG game. I’ve started reading it already and it’s pretty good!

I also got a couple of T-shirts. I got a Pikachu one, a PeanutButterGamer shirt, and a super cool Ace Attorney shirt. Two of the shirts were from The Yetee, very soft and comfy, and the other one was from the Pixel Empire, which was also pretty soft. I really like the fabric on them.

And, of course, I got some video games.

game-haulI got Pokemon Moon (I already have Pokemon Sun that I pre-ordered myself), Mario Party Star Rush, and Paper Mario Color Splash.

Kris got Pokemon Sun, Monster Hunter Generations, and Sonic Generations.

So, between the two of us we have a good haul of new games to play.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with friends and family. I also hope you all had a great New Year. 2017 will be the year of games!

Holiday Finds

Double Jump Kris MiiHappy Monday, everyone! I hope everyone had some lovely holidays!

Rachel and I had a great time with our families, and spent plenty of time getting acquainted with some new video games.

Video games — or gift cards towards the Nintendo eShop, Steam, what-have-you — tend to be a standard gift for Rachel and me. We did fairly well this Christmas season, and we can’t wait to share our thoughts about the new games!

From our older sister and brother-in-law, we had each gotten the other version of Pokemon Sun and Moon. We’re definitely looking forward to being able to explore the Alola region with a new team!

Our grandparents gave Rachel Mario Party Star Rush for the Nintendo 3DS while I got Monster Hunters Generations for the same system. I have never played a Monster Hunter game, but Rachel and I heard and watched good things about the series from some of our favorite YouTubers. Here’s hoping I can figure it out!

Paper Mario Color Splash for the Wii U was another game that had been under the tree for Rachel, while Sonic Generations for the 3DS was wrapped up for me. It’d been awhile since I played a decent Sonic the Hedgehog game, so hopefully Sonic Generations won’t be bad at all. We had also received the newest expansion for the Sims 4, City Living.

I know Rachel already spent some of her Nintendo eShop gift cards on Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice. I’m not too sure what I’m going to spend my gift cards on just yet… Any suggestions?

Holiday Wishlist

Holiday Wishlist for Gamers

krismii
Christmas is right around the corner! Rachel’s and my family generally know that video games usually dominate our wishlists. Besides us each getting the other half of Pokemon Sun and Moon, there are a few more games that we’re asking from Santa.

rachmii
I would love Mario Party Star Rush and Paper Mario: Color Splash! Neither one of them look as good as the games before them, but Paper Mario is my favorite series and I love the Mario Party games. I want to give them both a try and judge how good (or bad) they are myself!

krismii
My wishlist consists of games that I’ve probably already mentioned a few times on this blog, like Overwatch and Batman: The Telltale Series. There are plenty of contenders for the gaming PC and laptop that we have, and I would love to utilize our Steam account much more than we have been.

rachmii
I also asked for a Nintendo eShop gift card. I can’t wait to get my hands on Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice! I have been waiting too long for that game.

krismii
I’m asking for eShop gift cards as well, but I’m more interested in the older games, like how we just bought Legend of the Zelda: A Link to the Past. I think I’m hoping more for Steam cards as well. Death Road to Canada seems interesting after watching a Let’s Play of it — zombies aren’t really our thing, but this game made us laugh! It’d be awesome to see how far along we can get!

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Yes, I want to use Steam more! Death Road to Canada seems like a lot of fun. I also want to get the game guide for Pokemon Sun and Moon… I love collecting the guides and I can’t wait to take a peek inside what secrets it holds, even though I’ve played through most of the game.

krismii
I’m good with any sort of gamer merchandise. Not that I need more, but I love sweatshirts and t-shirts that showcase Legend of Zelda or Pokemon. Basically, anything that we mentioned in our Dream Loot Crate post sounds good to me, haha!

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Wouldn’t that be awesome? I want to get all the merchandise! And Pokemon cards. One can never have too many Pokemon cards. I can’t wait for Christmas! If only just for you to see which Amiibo I got you!

krismii
I hope that you like the one I got for you as well! It was very difficult not to go crazy buying all sorts of gamer gifts for you. Buying for and spoiling others is my favorite part of Christmas!

What games are you hoping to get this holiday season? Let us know in the comments!
