For our trip to Canada, we went to one of our banks to do a little currency exchange, thinking that we may need some Canadian cash for tips and food for the hotel, perhaps taxis. Considering that everything was just charged to our credit cards, we used all that cash at the artist alley at EGLX.
He recreates iconic video game characters and items from perler beads. As soon as I spotted Geno from Super Mario RPG, I had to nab it. Rachel chose the Charmander to bring home and, the next day, we returned for a couple of key chains. Rachel grabbed Boo while I opted for the ocarina from the Legend of Zelda. We had also gotten key chains of Yoshi and Pikachu for our younger cousins, but we gave the gifts to them before we had gotten a picture
We had also gotten a couple of Batman lanyards (along with a Fenniken plush for Rachel) from a booth, and the lanyards became the home to pins and key chains that we collected throughout the weekend.
Other key chains came from gyoGUTS and Geek @ <3. Rachel got a double-sided key chain of Breath of the Wild’s Link and Zelda, while my key chain had Urbosa from the same game and Sans from Undertale from gyoGUTS. From Geek @ <3 came the hand-crafted Wonder Woman symbol and Gameboy icon.
Geek @ <3 also made these gorgeous prints from all sorts of fandoms, looking like they were painted sketches over book pages or music sheets. I have to say, I believe these prints are some of my favorite treasures from the expo:
We also got plenty of other posters from Game Room Posters (at the time of this posting, the website is pending):
All in all, we got a pretty good haul from our first expo. The only question now is…. where do we put all this?
