Mario Kart Wii Was A Top Seller On Amazon Just Last Month [News]

Rachel Mii | DoubleJump.comHappy Thursday!

The weekend is almost here, but there’s a blizzard today so there’s a snow day for everyone in my family. My cousins got a Switch for Christmas and they’re eager to try out the online features for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with Kris and I.

Mario Kart Wii made it on the top sellers list on Amazon in December 2017 | Mario Kart Wii | Nintendo | video games |

I found it funny that I was scouring some gaming blogs and on My Nintendo News there was a quick article about Mario Kart Wii.

Mario Kart Wii was my favorite Mario Kart game ever. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is right up there with it, but the Wii version will always and forever have a special place in my heart.

Apparently, Mario Kart Wii was number 82 on the top 100 list of best sellers in the video game category on Amazon. This was just last month, December 2017.

Mario Kart Wii was originally released in April 2008. That’s nearly 10 years ago!

According to the article on My Nintendo News, some people are speculating that parents bought that version mistaking it for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch. I know a few people who got the Nintendo Switch for Christmas this year and I’m sure there are plenty more people and kids who got it that I don’t know of.

Could you imagine though? Getting a brand new console that takes itty-bitty cartridges the size of a pillow mint and get a game that contains a CD disc? What would be worse was if they didn’t own a Nintendo Wii either.

If it really is because people mixed up the two games, I guess I could understand. I know a lot of people who are completely clueless when it comes to games and consoles. When you buy on Amazon there’s no salesperson to tell you otherwise. You just point, click, and buy.

Then again, maybe some people are just discovering old Mario Kart routes again… I know I am with Super Mario Kart on the SNES Classic.

I haven’t turned on my Nintendo Wii in a long time though.

What do you think about this? Did some people buy the wrong game or are some people finding a love for their Wii again? Let me know in the comments below!

Throwback Thursday: Mario Kart Wii

Rachel Mii Double JumpHappy Thursday and Happy June!

I can’t believe another month has come and gone… time flies and between that and our Mario Kart 8 Deluxe review yesterday, I started thinking back on some other Mario Kart games.

Throwback Thursday: Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart Wii was my favorite Mario Kart game. I have to say that 8 Deluxe is my new favorite, but I will always have fond memories of the Wii version.

It was the first Mario Kart game with the tilt motion controls and I absolutely loved using the steering wheel. I was much better at using the motion controls than I was using the regular joy-stick controls. I was better than Kris too, which was even more fun.

Mario Kart Wii came out in April 2008. That was the year Kris graduated from high school and she had a large group of friends. I remember she would have the group over from time to time and they would hang out in the basement, play video games, gossip, whatever. Me, being the little sister, usually tagged along with them, and they gladly let me.

Mario Kart was always a big game for them to play. I used to love watching them go head to head in tournaments with one another even though they weren’t big “gamers” it was still all good fun for everyone.

I remember laughing hysterically watching them all play because there were certain people who were good at it and certain others who were not.

Of course, everyone went to off to college, moved to other places, and some are even married now. Still, we keep in touch with a few of them and our closest ones have a Nintendo Switch of their own. I can’t wait to challenge them in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

That’s one thing I love most about Nintendo and video games. It brings people together and we all genuinely have a good time.

Do you have any fond memories of old Mario Kart games? Let me know in the comments below!

Top 5 Mario Kart Courses

Hey guys, it’s Rachel!Rachel Mii Double Jump

I love the Mario Kart series, Mario Kart Wii being my favorite.

I did my top 5 Smash Bros. characters to play and I thought I would do my favorite Mario Kart courses.

5. Moonview Highway (Mario Kart Wii)

I love the idea of racing on an actual highway road. It’s night with lights from the cars’ headlights coming your way making the scenery pretty. This course can be tricky with the amount of cars coming and going, but if you’ve played the course enough times like I have, you’ll learn there’s a pattern to it which makes it a lot easier. I also love the various speed boosts along the way making it seem as though you’re really keeping up the speed as an actual highway.

4. Electrodome (Mario Kart 8)

Fun music and lights everywhere! I love the speed of this course in addition to the flying and hovering. This course is just overall light-hearted and fun.

3. Music Park (Mario Kart 7)

Why else would you love this course if it wasn’t for the music? I love how parts of the ground is a piano and creates music as you ride over it. Plus the giant dancing music notes are just too adorable to pass up.

2. Wario’s Gold Mine (Mario Kart Wii)

The scenery of a mine with the wooden track structure made it feel like a real mine. The best was when you went really fast downhill making it feel as though you’re on a roller coaster. Just like Rainbow Road, this course could be tricky and that’s the way I like it.

1. Rainbow Road (Mario Kart Wii)

The graphics of Rainbow Road alone are enough for me to love it. The road itself was very pretty. I was amazed by the open space as well as the flow of the road. I think I also really enjoyed it because I was the only one who didn’t fall off the road repeatedly. So I won every time!

What are you favorite Mario Kart courses?

Top Tuesday: Mario Games

Hey everyone!Rachel Mii Double Jump

For this Top Tuesday’s post, I’ll be talking about my favorite Mario games.

Mario is probably one of the most beloved game franchises of all time and I, like most of you, have grown up playing Mario games.

5. Super Mario RPG

I have to admit that I’ve never actually played this game myself. Suffering from Second Player Syndrome, I always watched Kris play it. Though I do love the game.

The old school graphics, the fun and upbeat music, new unique characters, and interesting villains is why this game is one of the best.

4. New Super Mario Bros.

I used to always play the old school Super Mario Bros. games with my sisters when we were younger. The original games are obviously awesome, but I love the remakes just as much.

The controls can be slippery sometimes as the characters tend to slide around a lot, but I think that makes it much more fun. I don’t know about you guys, but we can never keep our footing making the game that much more difficult. Plus, you can pick up your teammates and throw them off the edge just to piss them off.

3. Mario Kart Wii

Who doesn’t love a great kart racing game? Mario Kart has been around for a long, long time and I have to say that Mario Kart Wii is one of the best.

The controls are fun and the courses are pretty and unique. I always seem to do better at the harder courses than the easier ones, my favorites being Rainbow Road and Wario’s Gold Mine. This is a great game for me to play with my friends because I win most of the time and… Well, who doesn’t love winning?

When it comes to any Mario Kart game, it’s not about fun. It’s about winning.

2. Super Mario 64

I have a love-hate relationship with this game. But I must love it more than I hate it because it made number two on this list.

The different level possibilities is probably my favorite part of this game. The old school graphics are refreshing to see and the story line is easy and simple. Mario is a pain to control sometimes and he doesn’t always cooperate, but that makes the game that much more fun and challenging at the same time.

Either that, or I just really can’t play the game.

1. Paper Mario

If you’ve read my Top Tuesday post about my overall favorite video games, then I’m sure you could have guessed that this would be my top Mario game.

From the first time I played this game, I fell in love. The characters are witty and funny, the music is catchy, and the graphics are great–you know, for it to be “paper” and originally on the Nintendo 64.

The story is just like any other Mario game where Peach is kidnapped. But I love how we can play as Peach, even if she doesn’t do much, and Twink was a fun addition to the cast. The different worlds are unique and fun to play as well as trying to figure out how to get to each world.

Paper Mario definitely takes the cake!

What’s your favorite Mario game?
