Pokemon SoulSilver Update

Rachel Mii Double JumpI’ve started my next Pokemon journey for my Pokemon Playthrough.

I’m now traveling through the Johto region, but not without a few hiccups along the way.

I wanted to play through all the regions in order to “prepare” myself for Pokemon Sun and Moon to come out.

I played through Pokemon Blue in June and it ended up taking me a lot longer than expected.

I wanted to continue this journey through the ages of Pokemon by playing the original games. I was able to play Blue because I downloaded it through the virtual console on the Nintendo 3DS’s eshop, even though I do have a physical copy of Blue.

I wanted to play my physical copy of Crystal, but… That didn’t work out as well as I hoped it would.

The save file and memory wouldn’t work anymore. I tried my copies of Gold and Silver and they didn’t work, either. I’m sure you can imagine that I was pretty upset by this.

So, long story short, I figured I had to play through HeartGold or SoulSilver. When I turned on both games I realized that I had already played and beaten both of them.

I was much farther along on HeartGold than I was on SoulSilver, so I decided to start SoulSilver over.

Thus, I’m going through the Johto region with my SoulSilver game.

Just like when I played Pokemon Blue, I forgot about my deadline until it was staring me in the face. So I just started playing the game a few days ago. In other words, I’m not very far in it.

I do have two gym badges, though. I’m getting there. I’m a lot farther along at this point than I was in Pokemon Blue.

There’s not so much grinding this time around, so I’m able to move through the story quicker. Plus, I’ve played the game before.

Oh, and I have the running shoes. Those things are a life saver!

Are you playing through the old Pokemon games? Which region is your favorite?

Pokemon Playthrough

Rachel Mii Double JumpHappy Tuesday!

With the news of Pokemon Sun and Moon coming out in a couple of months, I’ve decided I’m going to go on a full journey before November!

The seventh generation of Pokemon is coming in November 2016. That’s five months away.

I’ve played through the games before many times, of course. However, I’ve gotten farther in some regions over others.

I decided that in anticipation of Pokemon Sun and Moon coming out, I’m going to go on my own Pokemon journey through the games from the very beginning.

Via 9gag.com
I will play the games as such…

June: Pokemon Blue
July: Pokemon Crystal
August: Pokemon Emerald
September: Pokemon Platinum
October: Pokemon Black
November: Pokemon Y
December: Pokemon Sun or Moon

What bothers me about Unova and Kalos is that there’s no third installment to the games. I decided to stick with Black over Black 2 because… I don’t really know why. My mind may change.

Also, I’ve beaten and gotten really far in X so I’ll play Y for November.

Sun and Moon come out November 18. I most likely won’t get the games until the end of November, so I’ll play the seventh generation come December.

I’ll post a review of each game at the end of each month. Be sure to follow Double Jump on Twitter and Tumblr. I’ll post updates through there using #PokemonJourney. I hope you’ll join me!

I’m going to catch them all (maybe) and be the very best (we’ll see about that one).

Will you go on your own journey while waiting for the new games?
