Rumor: Pokemon Gen. Four Remakes

Double Jump Kris MiiHappy Monday!

With the coming holidays, there are a plethora of new video game releases that are on our radar. Most are new but some are remastered versions of older games that we had loved. Now there are rumors of another remake…

Pokemon | Video Games | Generation Four | Pearl | Diamond | Nintendo | Doublexjump.com

Pokemon is one of our favorite franchises, probably one of the first that truly got us into gaming on a regular basis. The Yellow, Red, and Blue trio were my first games for my Game Boy Color, and Rachel joined me in on the Pokemon adventure with Gold, Silver, and Crystal. The first generation of Pokemon has been remade a couple of times — with FireRed and LeafGreen, then most recently with the Let’s Go duo — and the second and third generation games have also been given makeovers.

There has always been clamor for the fourth generation of games — Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum in the Sinnoh region — to be remade as well. The fourth generation of Pokemon games was one of the most acclaimed with the Pokemon world, with it introducing the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to allow trainers from all over the world to communicate, as well as updating the graphics, battle and contest mechanics, and introducing the most Legendary Pokemon in a generation.

According to a recent rumor, the Sinnoh region may yet still be remade.

Granted, the rumor is due to a Pokemon merchandise online store noticing that a slew of Sinnoh merch is slated to come within the next year or so. Saturating the market with fourth generation Pokemon toys would help with marketing when it comes to remakes. Considering the next core Pokemon games are being released in November, a remake of the fourth generation could be the next Pokemon game on Nintendo’s to-do list. In all seriousness, Nintendo may not have to do any market ploy for the generation four remakes, not with how much fans have wanted these remakes for years.

With that said, while I’ve always enjoyed the remakes, my favorite Pokemon games were the third-tiers, which haven’t been a thing since the original Pokemon Platinum game back in 2009. We’ll get the remakes, whenever they get released, and we’ll probably enjoy them just as much as we enjoy the others.

Would you like a remake of the fourth generation Pokemon games? Any particular updates you’d like to see? Let me know in the comments below! If you liked this post, please share it around.

A Handheld Only Nintendo Switch [Rumor]

Rachel Mii | DoubleJump.comHappy Thursday!

Nintendo has always been known for being predictable – and yet – totally unpredictable. They’re always trying to surprise us, always taking risks, and doing something out of the ordinary. One thing is normal though and that’s Nintendo Directs.

Rumor Nintendo Switch Handheld Mode Only | Nintendo | Video Games | Gaming | DoublexJump.com

Nintendo usually puts on a Direct in January and a lot of people (just check Twitter) are expecting one. There’s even a rumor going around that it’ll be on the 10th, which is a week from today. I obviously don’t know if this will actually happen or not – hence “rumor” – but people have been making predictions of what Nintendo may show.

I have to be honest – I don’t have any true predictions other than hopefully they’ll show more of Luigi’s Mansion 3, Animal Crossing for the Switch, and Pokemon for the Switch. They may announce a new DLC character for Smash Ultimate too. Maybe they’ll announce a release date for Piranha Plant for Smash. Who knows?

Okay, I guess I did have a couple of predictions.

That’s not the point of this post. Some other people have been making predictions of what Nintendo might plan to do for 2019 – not necessarily what they may announce in this supposed Direct in a week.

Wow, that was an interesting sentence.

Anyway, some Analysts got together to predict Nintendo’s plans for 2019. One guy, Michael Pachter, said:

“Nintendo will launch a fully handheld version of the Switch at $199.”

Would that be a good idea? I’ve gone back and forth about buying my own Switch so Kris and I can trade Pokemon in the Let’s Go games and play other games together. But all our games are on the Switch we have so I’d have to start from scratch. Not to mention I already have my own account on the Switch and I don’t know how I feel about making yet another Nintendo account.

I do, however, use the Switch in handheld mode a lot. I loved the 3DS and I think I prefer handhelds over home consoles, even though I enjoy seeing my games on the big screen.

Honestly, I could use the Switch we have now as a handheld only and just use the dock as a charging station. However, the battery life in handheld mode isn’t great.

Getting a Switch without the dock for $100 less wouldn’t be a bad deal. I assume a charger would come with it. The only thing is, again, they would have make it so the battery life of the Switch lasts longer. Whether that’s possible or not, I don’t know.

Also, would they change the Switch in any way to make sure it didn’t fit in a dock so people didn’t cheat out on buying the $300 Switch? I assume they would keep the game cartridges the same… but who knows with Nintendo. They can be fickle sometimes.

I know they once said their aim was to have a Switch per person in every household. For my house and each one of us having our own Switch, that would cost us $1,200 – not including multiple $60 games or $80 extra Joy-Con and other accessories.

Granted, this is just a prediction, but I wouldn’t put it past Nintendo to do this. It’d be cheaper (though not by much). There would certainly be pros and cons to buying the handheld version over the docked version and vice versa.

The Switch is still doing extremely well, but it’ll be two-years-old two months from today. I expect they’re thinking of a new console or handheld or something to add to the Switch.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

What do you think of this rumor? If Nintendo did this, would you buy it? Let me know in the comments below! If you liked this post, please share it around.

Rumor: Skyward Sword HD for the Switch

Double Jump Kris MiiHappy Monday everyone!

I hope everyone who celebrates it had a wonderful Thanksgiving and, whether or not you do celebrate it, I hope you all had a great weekend!

Here’s a rumor for you — supposedly Aonuma teased Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Switch. There’s not much information at all on this topic, just that many people were tweeting about the tease after the Osaka Zelda concert.

I actually enjoyed Skyward Sword when it came out on the Wii about seven years ago. I wasn’t that great at the motion controls, but I didn’t mind them. In fact, my flailing was quite amusing, if Rachel’s opinion is anything to go by. The motion controls with the Joy-Con would probably be much more precise, considering the Joy-Con have much better gyro motion controls than the wiimote plus.

The story of Skyward Sword is definitely one of the more linear games, but I enjoyed the story, finding the “prequel” to the rest of the Zelda franchise interesting. If they do the HD remake, cutting down on some of the hand-holding and ridiculous dousing quests would make the story run smoother, in my opinion.

I remember loving the graphics and music of Skyward Sword, so if we do get to see it in HD with on the Switch — especially after seeing how gorgeous Breath of the Wild is — I’ll definitely be interested in it! It’s one of the Zelda games that I keep meaning to go back to, so Nintendo will have my money if Skyward Sword HD ends up being a thing.

Are you interested in a remake of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword?

New Date For Latest Nintendo Direct [Rumor]

Rachel Mii | DoubleJump.comHappy Tuesday!

I personally think it’s been a long week and it’s barely started. Still, I’ve been keeping my eye out for a new Direct date and we might have one.

We were supposed to have a Nintendo Direct a few days ago about upcoming Switch and 3DS games. I was looking forward to it when mother nature had other plans for poor Japan.

An earthquake hit and I’m hoping everyone on that side of the world is safe and the mess wasn’t too big. Still, it was enough for Nintendo to delay the direct – which I think was respectful of them.

I’ve been checking back here and there to see if a new date has been added and there’s a rumor going around that it might be September 13th, a Thursday.

I feel like, a lot of time, when it comes to rumors, they end up coming true. So I’m hoping September 13th is true because then that means it’s only two days away and I can finally get my Animal Crossing Switch.

Yes, I said it.

Are you looking forward to the Direct? What do you think they’ll announce?
