Character Spotlight: Pipit

Rachel Mii | DoubleJump.comHappy Tuesday!

We’re already at the end of July, so this month we’re talking about Pipit from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword… why? Because he’s adorable, that’s why.

Character Spotlight: Pipit | The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword | Legend of Zelda | Video Games | Gaming | Nintendo |

Pipit is a character in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which came out for the Nintendo Wii in November 2011. He’s a graduate from the Knight Academy, which was the school Link was currently attending before he goes on his latest (or, I guess, first) journey to aid Princess Zelda. Pipit doesn’t do too much in the game. In fact, he really only has a couple of lines at the beginning of the game and that’s it.

You can talk to him here and there, of course. He typically stands in the same spot depending on the time of day in-game, as NPCs tend to do. I immediately enjoyed his character because he’s always smiling and I love his design. Sure, he’s in the same clothes as Link – just yellow – but he’s got cute freckles and his voice is on point. Even though he only says a single whenever Link starts to talk to him, he’s got my vote.

Also, Pipit stands with his arms folded and lean in close to Link and his face is just adorable. I totally don’t have a gaming crush on him. Look up fanart of Pipit and Link being shipped at your own risk. I remember, when this game came out, that was all over Deviant Art.

Anyway, that’s Pipit. He’s only appeared in the one game and he really didn’t have anything to do, but for some reason, he’s a character that I remember well. I’ve always loved him as a character even though he’s not playable and, again, doesn’t do much.

Sometimes, though, the NPCs in the background need a little spotlight and Pipit is one of those who are deserving of it. There are quite a few other NPCs that I love from Skyward Sword, but I’ll talk about them at another time.

Rumor: Skyward Sword HD for the Switch

Double Jump Kris MiiHappy Monday everyone!

I hope everyone who celebrates it had a wonderful Thanksgiving and, whether or not you do celebrate it, I hope you all had a great weekend!

Here’s a rumor for you — supposedly Aonuma teased Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Switch. There’s not much information at all on this topic, just that many people were tweeting about the tease after the Osaka Zelda concert.

I actually enjoyed Skyward Sword when it came out on the Wii about seven years ago. I wasn’t that great at the motion controls, but I didn’t mind them. In fact, my flailing was quite amusing, if Rachel’s opinion is anything to go by. The motion controls with the Joy-Con would probably be much more precise, considering the Joy-Con have much better gyro motion controls than the wiimote plus.

The story of Skyward Sword is definitely one of the more linear games, but I enjoyed the story, finding the “prequel” to the rest of the Zelda franchise interesting. If they do the HD remake, cutting down on some of the hand-holding and ridiculous dousing quests would make the story run smoother, in my opinion.

I remember loving the graphics and music of Skyward Sword, so if we do get to see it in HD with on the Switch — especially after seeing how gorgeous Breath of the Wild is — I’ll definitely be interested in it! It’s one of the Zelda games that I keep meaning to go back to, so Nintendo will have my money if Skyward Sword HD ends up being a thing.

Are you interested in a remake of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword?

Top Tuesday: Favorite Zelda: Skyward Sword Characters

Rachel Mii Double JumpHappy Tuesday!

It’s time for another top list and to go along with my favorite Mario characters, I’ve decided to talk about my favorite Zelda characters since Breath of the Wild is a huge deal at the moment. Of course, I’ll be talking about Skyward Sword today. It’s my favorite Zelda game and I haven’t played Breath of the Wild yet…

I of course love Zelda and Link respectively, but seeing as they’re the protagonists, I’ve decided to keep them off the list. So, without further ado…

5. Pipit

Pipit doesn’t really do anything in this game, but he’s really cute and I absolutely love his voice even though he just mutters a simple “yeah” when you speak to him.

4. Impa

Impa carries this story. Without here, everyone would be dead. I love the older version of her and even though she was mean to Link as an adult, she’s such a bad-ass and it’s amazing.

3. Ghirahim

I think Ghirahim is my favorite villain from the Zelda series. I found him hilarious and I loved his personality, even though he was creepy. I love his character design as well.

2. Fi

Most people find Fi annoying, but I always loved her. She’s so majestic and naive, yet is totally aware of what’s going on. Like most games, Link would be lost without Fi, his companion for the game. She’s not very good at math and she wasn’t always the best at giving advice, but I enjoyed her company anyway.

1. Groose

Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you the character with the most development throughout the entire game. You don’t see Groose much and I know he’s a jerk in the beginning, but he’s insecure, that’s all. My favorite part of the whole game was the final boss when Groose came swooping down to catch Zelda and aid Link in battle from the sidelines. He didn’t like Link, he only wanted to impress Zelda, but when it came to the fate of the world, he realized Link was the obvious choice. Instead of being bitter about it, he took it upon himself to do whatever he could to help. And it was the best thing ever.
