Spider-Man PS4 Main Theme — Epic Game Music

Music_EpicSpiderman.jpg

This month’s music video is a cover from a game that we don’t even have. Spider-Man for the PS4 has quite the fanbase and, even though we don’t have a PS4, we can admit how much fun the game looks to play!

This rock cover of the video game’s main theme is by Epic Game Music. James Ronald is the name of the man behind the guitar (and, in some music videos, the Nintendo Labo). He’s been on the YouTube scene since March 2007, almost always breathing new life into video game tunes with his guitar.

We just recently discovered him, so we hope you enjoy his music too as we dive down the rabbit hole of his videos!

Save the date! We’re doing a special Twitch Stream to celebrate the Nintendo Switch! You can learn more about it here.

Ocarina of Time Title Screen — Smooth McGroove

Music_SmoothOcarina

This month’s featured music video is from a talented man who goes by the name Smooth McGroove. We actually never miss an upload from this guy, but I don’t think we’ve ever showcased him on our blog before, which is being rectified today.

Smoothie has been created acappella music videos of video game tunes since the end of 2012. While he did go on a hiatus for a little while, he has been making more music lately. He did remake one of his very first videos recently, which is the title theme to Ocarina of Time.

Rachel and I really enjoy his works (as well as his cat’s cameo in nearly every video!), and we hope you do as well!

Octopath Traveler’s Decisive Battle II – BrawlBRSTMs3 X

music_otbattleii

It’s the end of the first month of 2019! How’s everyone doing? Your resolutions holding up? Discover any awesome new games in January, or are you focused on finishing up some of 2018’s games?

Rachel’s and my Spotify playlists are a bit dominated by video game soundtracks, but there are a few that are missing from the streaming service. One such soundtrack is Octopath Traveler, which I was grateful enough to receive for Christmas, but since the CDs are in my car, it is also nice to have the soundtrack readily available on the computer or something for while we’re working.

Enter BrawlBRSTMs3 X. Rachel discovered this YouTube channel fairly recently. Whoever is behind this channel seems to somehow upload full soundtracks. Each song is individual and most of them are put on a loop for about thirty minutes or so, so if there’s a particular song that’s your favorite, you can continue to listen to it for as long as you like.

This song is from Octopath Traveler, titled Decisive Battle II. We adore the fast-paced battle themes of this game, and we hope you like it too! If not, take a couple of hours to dive down the rabbit hole that is this YouTube channel. There are so many soundtracks and songs on there, it’s almost too good to be true!

As someone pointed out on Twitter, the uploader does not allow these videos to be played on other sites. You can follow this link to YouTube to listen to it there!

Top 20 Winter Nintendo Songs – Henriko Magnifico

Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone! Similar to last December, this month’s music video is celebrating songs from winter and ice levels from a plethora of Nintendo games.

This compilation was done by Henriko Magnifico, who’s channel is dedicated to all sorts of video game music. Aside from his YouTube channel, he also has a Twitch channel for his gaming and music. We first discovered this guy when we were searching for some background music to work to and realized he has a 24/7 radio dedicated to Nintendo and other video game music.

We hope you enjoy this compilation just as we did!

Super Mario RPG Barrel Volcano — Crazy Group Trio

Crazy Group Trio was discovered via Spotify when the music streaming service recommended the artist due to the covers and remixes of video game music that the artist creates. Super Mario RPG covers were included, something that was exciting to us!

Crazy Group Trio’s YouTube channel is fairly active, with music being uploaded a couple of times a week. The music ranges from several games, including Final Fantasy, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, and Banjo-Kazooie. The piano arrangements give familiar video game music a fun, new twist.

Below is the YouTube video that shows off the piano arrangement for Barrel Volcano from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker — Great Sea Cover

Why, yes, it’s another Legend of Zelda music cover! The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, has some of the most impressive music to go with its cel-shaded graphic style. Longtime Zelda fans were able to pick out strings of familiar music in the game’s locations from previous Zelda games, smiling at the nostalgia-inducing melodies.

While most Legend of Zelda games have a song for Hyrule Fields or another similar “hub” area, the Wind Waker had the Great Sea. Some folks found the sailing from island to island to be a bit tedious, but the music still invoked that same sense of adventure as the previous Hyrule Field melodies have done.

Josiah Everhart is a YouTuber who mixes his songwriting talents with his love of video games. He has a plethora of video game covers, along with some brilliant original work, and one of our favorites is his cover of the Great Sea. The cover includes guitars, some guest drum work, and the lyrics that Josiah wrote and sings himself. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Undertale: Megalovania Cover

We’ve showcased Taylor Davis on this blog before, and we thought it high time that we do it again.

This time around we’re showing off her cover of the Megalovania melody from the game Undertale. We figured it was a fair fit for around this time of year. Arguably, there’s spookier game music out there for Halloween, but Kris is not a fan of horror games. So you get this awesome rendition of Megalovania’s battle theme performed by the talented Taylor Davis!
