The Liebster Award

The wonderful TWOTALL4UFOOL has nominated Double Jump for the Liebster Award, which is an appreciation of other bloggers for their hard work and dedication in the blogging world. Thank you, TWOTALL4UFOOL! Be sure to check out his blog, he’s great!
-Display the award, explain it, and thank the person who gave it to you linking back to their blog.
-Answer the questions and create your own for the people you nominate.
-Let the people you nominate know you’ve thought about them for the award. (We’re kind of boring and don’t typically nominate people, we like people to join if they choose. Plus, there are too many bloggers for us to mention!)

What made you want to start blogging?

It honestly just seemed to be a fun way to connect to fellow writers and readers. I’ve enjoyed writing since I was in my early teens, if not before then, and blogging seemed to be a great outlet to share the love. Since then, my main focus is Double Jump to connect with other gamers and writers.

I originally started blogging about six years ago and it was mainly to be an author platform for myself. I still don’t have any books published, but I’m getting closer each day. My blog has grown so much and there are some days where I wonder if I was meant to be a “blogger” more than an “author.” I started this blog a little over two years ago because I love video games, I wanted to do something creative with Kris, and similar to my writing, I wanted to share my love of video games.

What is something you’ve learned from blogging that has been valuable to you?

It’s definitely a time commitment, something that I’ve needed to kick my butt into gear with my goals. Between working full-time and my flair for procrastination that I haven’t grown out of from high school (I’m working on it), having the commitment and passion for blogging has been valuable to me.

Blogging is a lot of hard work and no “get rich quick” scheme. I’d like to make a steady income from my blog, but no one should blog because they want to make money out of it. It shows and it’s not easy. If you don’t have the passion for it, it’s just going to be work.

Any blogging advice you care to share with the blogging community?

Keep being passionate about your work. Don’t pander to the masses or do what you believe to be “popular” at the time you start. Write about what you love, have fun, and you’ll make real connections with others.

Connect with people and keep our blog updated. It allows people to know you’re still around and you also make a lot of great friends who share the same passions as you.

What are you passionate about?

Creativity — writing, gaming, art — is one of my top passions. Animals as well as equality among people (sexuality, gender, race, everything) are a couple of others. I also am really passionate about people being nice to each other.

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Writing, video games, anything creative pretty much. I’m not picky when it comes to the arts.

What motivates you to keep blogging?

Rachel, haha! Aside from being able to do something creative with my sister, connections with other gamers keeps me going. I’m always interested to share my thoughts and see what other people think of regarding the posts that we throw out there for everyone to read.

Rachel Mii Double Jump
The people I’ve “met.” I’ve made friends with so many writers and bloggers alike as well as people who absolutely love video games and basically anything I love. I’ve also met people who have similar mental health issues as I do and it’s great to have others to talk to and relate to about that.

What was your favorite TV show growing up?

How young are we talking about? As a little kid, there was “That’s My Dog,” which was about a friendly competition — talent show, a maze race, an obstacle course — between two dog contestants and their families. One of my favorite episodes was the Great Dane versus the chihuahua! Batman: The Animated Series and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were also favorites of mine.

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Pokemon, of course. But I also loved Tom and Jerry. I want the DVDs of that show, I haven’t seen it in a while.

What’s your favorite sport?

Martial arts, really. I’ve never really played or watched sports while growing up, but my superhero-obsessed self loved the idea of having a black belt. I’ve done a couple of “free trial” classes for martial arts, but haven’t found a place to stick with just yet. Archery was fun too, does that count?

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Dancing. I’m not one for hockey or baseball or anything like that, but I love watching people dance and I enjoy dancing myself.

If we were to hang out for one day, what would we do?

Movies and video games are always good for a fun time, but if we want to be somewhat social, I’m cool with taking my/our dog(s) for a walk or getting ice cream.

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Probably play video games or watch people stream. Or we could stream together!

Do you prefer to wear dress shoes or sneakers?

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Sneakers. Hands down.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Probably writing self-insert fanfiction, haha! Does blasting music from musicals and singing at the top of my lungs when I’m home alone count?

Rachel Mii Double Jump
I don’t know if this counts, but it’s the first thing that popped into my head… I love collecting things, most notably Pokemon cards. I have no idea how to play the card game, but I love collecting the cards and hope to “catch ’em all” someday.

  1. Congratulations! I have to say I love the question 5 that you have left for people to answer. It made me laugh because of a picture I got sent to me a few times which covers that sort of thing and I know what response I would give.

  2. Congratulations on the award, girls! It is certainly well-deserved due to the awesome job you two do here. And great answers all around!
I dislike pineapple in all formats, so I like it away from my pizza and any other kind of food. =P

  3. I love both of your answers. Kris I think Archery is pretty awesome. I haven’t shot a bow and arrow in years. Rachel I’m a big fanatic for old cartoon shows so you saying you like Tom and Jerry lets me know that shows of old are being shown to a younger audience. I’ll answer one of your questions. My favorite music artist is the hip-hop group Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. If you’ve never heard of them check them out. Some of their hits include Tha Crossroads, 1st of Tha Month, Foe Tha Love Of $, and Thuggish Ruggish Bone. Thanks for participating. 👍😀👍
