Top Tuesday: Favorite Nintendo 3DS Games

Rachel Mii Double JumpHappy Tuesday!
I’ll be doing a Nintendo 3DS game review for my next solo review so I thought I would talk about some of my favorite 3DS games.
This list is not in any particular order since it was hard to pick and choose my favorites, to begin with – there are so many! So, they’re in alphabetical order.
Top Favorite Nintendo 3DS Games
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
I’m in love with the Animal Crossing series. I started playing the game when the original came out for the Gamecube way back in April 2001. Since then, I’ve collected all the Animal Crossing games falling in love with each installment more and more. New Leaf is definitely one of the best in the whole series.
Elliot Quest
Kris and I got a review copy of this game from Miketendo64. It was a game neither one of us had ever heard of, but we were both pleased. It had an intriguing storyline and the gameplay was a lot of fun.
James Noir’s Hollywood Crimes
This was one of the first games I got for my 3DS. I got two of the same game (I believe it was Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon) for Christmas, so I went to the game store to exchange one copy for a new 3DS game. At the time, there wasn’t much out for the 3DS so I picked up James Noir’s Hollywood Crimes. It’s a mystery puzzle game and while it was short, I remember enjoying it. It’s a game I should play again soon.
Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Speaking of games I have to play again soon, A Link Between Worlds is one of them. I love Zelda and this game didn’t disappoint. Kris usually plays them and I watch, but I played this one myself and had a lot of fun with it.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon
Like Animal Crossing, the Luigi’s Mansion series in one of my favorites. I can only hope there will be a third game for the Nintendo Switch. Dark Moon was more complex than the first game. It took me a long time to defeat the final boss because it was super hard and you were timed which just made me panic. Still, it was enjoyable.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice
You can’t go wrong with a Phoenix Wright game. I loved Dual Destinies, but Spirit of Justice had most of the older characters in it as well as new ones. Everyone was brought back together again. It was an awesome storyline, as usual, and I hope they continue making these games. It had a great ending but seemed like a series ending.
Pokemon Sun/Moon
I didn’t realize how many Pokemon games came out for the 3DS until I was looking at a master list of the games. It was hard to pick and choose which Pokemon games I enjoyed the most, but I had to go with the main series game. Sun and Moon were awesome, even though I was skeptical about them at first. They weren’t afraid to break away from old traditions and it worked.
Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon
I also had to pick a non-main series game for Pokemon. I love the Mystery Dungeon games. It’s fun being a Pokemon and having multiple Pokemon following you around in various areas that change each time you enter them. Super Mystery Dungeon was a great addition to the Mystery Dungeon games.
Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
What could be better than Layton and Wright getting together? This game was my first introduction to Professor Layton. Kris and I wanted to try out his series but decided to start with this game as it gave us the best of both worlds. Needless to say, I fell in love.
Tomodachi Life
Such a simple game, yet so much fun. While I haven’t played it in a while, I have a gazillion people living in my Tomodachi town. Everyone’s getting married, having babies, and then those babies get married and have more babies. The games are fun and their life problems are pretty funny. I especially enjoy the concert hall and making up songs for them to sing because their voices are just hilarious.

  1. Awesome list! I have never heard of Elliot Quest and James Noir’s Hollywood Crimes, though. They sound pretty cool.
As for my favorites, I would probably go for A Link Between World, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Shovel Knight,

    1. I had never heard of Elliot Quest before either, but it was a good game! And if you love mystery and puzzles, Hollywood Crimes is a good, quick game.
You have great choices as well! Though I’ll admit I’ve never played Shovel Knight.

  2. My favorite 3DS game is probably A Link Between Worlds. Pokemon Moon and Animal Crossing are on my list of games I keep playing. And Bravely Default is a great (not so little) little RPG from Square.

  3. Cool list! I didn’t hear about Elliot Quest until last week, suddenly it seems like everyone is talking about it.
For me, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D was my favourite. Playing a game of that magnitude on the go is pretty sweet. Also helps that the game itself is pretty good.

  4. Nice choices!
    My favorites are:
Phoenix Wright as well (all of them!)
    Monster Hunter Generations
    Zero Time Dilemma
    Pokemon Sun/Moon
    A Link Between Worlds
    Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call
    Bravely Default
    Super Mario 3D Land
    Fire Emblem Fates
    Hyrule Warriors Legends
    In no real order. 😉
