Top Tuesday: Favorite SNES Games As A Kid

Rachel Mii | DoubleJump.comHappy Tuesday!
I talked about my favorite SNES Classic games a couple weeks ago and it got me thinking about some of the other games I used to play on the SNES as a kid. Games that didn’t make it to the Classic edition.

4. Goof Troop
This game wasn’t good. At all. But I loved it anyway. Why? I think it was because everyone else hated it. Kris would never play it with me and I always had to beg my Dad to play guilt-tripping him by saying Kris wouldn’t play with me. I don’t remember the point of this game. The main thing I remember is me playing as Max and my Dad playing as Goofy. As Max, I kept picking up barrels and throwing them at Goofy and my Dad couldn’t figure out why he was losing health. That’s pretty much it.
3. The Lion King
This was always a fun game. Though I don’t think we ever beat it. There was no save and we could never play long enough to actually get through the game. I remember Kris almost made it to the Scar fight once. For some reason, we never did make it though. Still, it was fun to run around like a lion.
2. Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose
Tiny Toons was awesome. The game, if I remember correctly, wasn’t actually that bad either. Kris and I used to play and I think our other sister used to play with us as well. Any game that got the three of us playing together was a good game.
1. TMNT: Turtles In Time
The best game ever. You can’t go wrong with anything Ninja Turtles and I wish this game came out on the SNES Classic because I would love to play it again. Kris and I had so much fun with it when we were kids. We were crazy about Ninja Turtles too, so I’m sure that helped.

  1. For me, it would probably be A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, FF II & III, and Chrono Trigger.

  2. For me it had to be Donkey Kong Country 1 & 2. Super Mario RPG really got me into RPGs so that’s another one of my favorites. And Turtles in Time. I’m sure if Nintendo could’ve gotten it on the SNES Classic they would’ve but it would’ve been a licensing nightmare. I’m sure Konami doesn’t own the rights anymore. But I hacked mine so it’s on there now 😎. But I was a little disappointed that beat em ups were ignored for the mini console. As for your list Goof Troop is underrated in my opinion. Definitely a hidden gem of the SNES. My cousins loved the Lion King although they had for Genesis 👎! And Tiny Toons was hard but that level where you had to feed Dizzy food in that kitchen was hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂! Great post.

    • Long story short, I pretty much agree with everything you just said. SNES games were great even though some may not seem like it now.
Yes, Dizzy! That’s pretty much the only thing I remember about that game, lol.
