Would You Rather: The Legend Of Zelda Edition

Being Zelda month, we thought we’d do another round of Would You Rather while focusing on the amazing franchise. We did a Breath of the Wild version back in April 2017 for that particular installment, so the questions this time around will encompass the series as a whole. To get it started, Rachel, would you rather be only able to play the Legend of Zelda games on a home console or on a handheld like the 3DS?

I like that you started me off with an easy question. I’d rather play home console. The majority of the games are for the home consoles and while the handheld games are great (I mean, they all are), I’d rather be able to play the majority of the series. In fact, I’ve only ever played one handheld Zelda game. The rest were consoles. Kris, would you rather travel with Link on his journey (like Navi) or aid Zelda on her side (like Impa)?

While both Zelda and Impa can be badass, I think I would rather travel with Link and explore all of Hyrule, despite the obvious danger if it’s a time when Ganondorf — or whoever is trying to take it over at the time — is climbing to power. Rachel, would you rather live in the waterlogged Hyrule during the Wind Waker game or be a citizen of Skyloft with your own Loftwing?

That’s a tough one. I love swimming and such but I think I’d prefer Skyloft. Despite not liking heights, I’d probably be used to it. Plus, I just want my own Loftwing. If you could choose only one companion, would you rather have Navi or Fi?

While I actually don’t mind either companion, I think I would go with Fi. She comes with the Master Sword, after all, haha! Would you rather have the powers that come with the masks from Majora’s Mask or be able to warp and travel to different places around the country with the power of the ocarina?

Rachel Mii Double Jump
Ocarina, definitely. I wouldn’t want to try on any of those masks! And finally, would you rather be one of the seven sages or one of the goddesses?

That’s… a tough question. One one hand, the seven sages helped Link in Ocarina against Ganondorf, but the goddesses would theoretically be watching over every part of the timeline… I think one of the sages. I wouldn’t mind being the Sage of the Shadow Temple or Sage of the Spirit Temple. These were some great questions! Looking forward to the next round!

  1. Home consoles, for the added power.
Link, because you get to walk around Hyrule defeating bad guys.
I will take The Wind Waker’s world. I don’t like beaches all that much, but I do love the ocean.
Navi and Fi are a tough choice as I don’t care much for either, I would take Midna over them any day. But I guess I would go with Navi. She is overall quieter than Fi.
The masks! It would be cool to know how it is to be another creature or have special powers.
One of goddesses. Creating a world sounds pretty awesome!

  2. I’ll take the 3DS games. All of the best Zelda games ever made are on 3DS and I don’t like any of the console games after Windwaker (Breath of the Wild included) so 3DS for me lol.
I’ll go with Zelda. I’m not a big Link fan anymore and at least Zelda would have some interesting things to say over Link’s silence.
Windwaker. I hated everything about Skyward Sword :).
    Majora’s Mask all day everyday.
    Neither of them.

    • That’s fair. The controls are more consistent on 3DS, if you think about it. Out of curiosity, how come you don’t like the console games as much?
We are sure polar opposites with these answers! Lol.

      • Everything after Windwaker was a letdown to me. I never played Twilight Princess so I can’t comment on that one, but Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild are not great games and killed what little interest I had left in the Zelda series. The 3DS games are better to me. Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece, Majora’s Mask is close to a masterpiece, and A Link Between Worlds is probably the best Zelda game ever made.
        We sure are opposites lol

        • Fair enough. I love them all though, lol. There are certainly pros and cons to each, but I’ve always loved the story and getting to the end from point A to point B.

  3. My favorite Zelda games are both 2D ( A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds) and both are available on the 3DS (one as part of the VC) so I’d be fine with handheld although I’d miss Wind Waker, my favorite 3D Zelda. That said, the Switch does both so… if we could just port the entire series there, I’d probably cop out and pick that.

  4. As a massive Zelda fan here are my answers…
    1) home consoles, better graphics and you can download extra content easier
    3) with Zelda because Impa is awesome and has her own adventures
    2) Skyloft, loftwings are far too cool. Can I have the King of Red Lions as well though?
    3) got to be Fi as she is the Master Sword
    4) I’ll go with the Ocarina because Ocarina of Time is what got me into Zelda so it has special place in my heart
    5) a Sage as you can travel Hyrule in disguise

    • I love all of your answers. I enjoy the home consoles too for the graphics and I love seeing the games on the big screen.
And no, you may not have the King of Red Lions because you chose you live in the sky. 😛

  5. I can agree with you on the home council lot better (sorry I cannot spell)
